Football X Fashion: The Here and Now

by Acacia Blyth

Game day. The long-awaited presentation of the result of hours upon hours of dedication. On the field, on the court, on the track, wherever the athlete performs, they must make the shift into “The Zone”.

The here and now. It’s the moment of intense presentness that the athlete trains themselves to tap into. When you’re under pressure on the field, stressed under the clock on the court, or going lactic on the track, finding your here and now is how you bring yourself back into the game. Athletes have to become masters of this high-pressure meditation tactic, and it’s not something that comes just in that specific, crucial moment.

Tapping into the here and now is a preparation game, and your game-day look is the ignition of confidence that transforms you into the most confident version of yourself.

Confidence is interlocked with presence. When you feel good, your mental fortitude is at its peak, and that allows you to bring your mind back to the present at the time of need during competition.

In the world of football, an athlete’s walk-out look is the visual manifestation of that confidence, and it is a unique way to understand each individual’s sphere of confidence.

The here and now happens on the field, but to harness this power, you have to prep it hours before. When you know you look good, you feel good, and you perform with strength and resistance to the opponent, the one across the field and the one in your head.
